About us
Creating sustainable apparel through a circular cycle
The reason why Shoichi is involved in the recycling business is
that it aims to realize a sustainable society by taking environmental considerations into account and working to solve social issues.
By reusing unwanted items, we not only reduce the burden on the environment, but also
solve social issues by creating an environment where people with disabilities can easily participate in society.
The recycling business would not be possible without the help of people with disabilities .
Twenty-five years ago, I learned about the reality of unsold clothing being thrown away. My search for ways to prevent waste led me to found Shoichi. While
I have deep respect for the people working in the apparel industry, I deeply question the current situation in which the products they create and sell, often at the expense of their sleep and food, are discarded under the pretext of "preventing brand damage." Does discarding protect a brand? In fact, I believe that discarding itself is the biggest cause of brand damage.
We must change our mindset of "throwing away unsold items" and instead strive to preserve them for the future. We must recycle limited resources and contribute to environmental conservation.
Furthermore, while volunteering, I heard concerns about the limited employment opportunities available to people with disabilities. I realized that with the right training, people with disabilities can be extremely dependable, and so I sought ways to provide them with employment opportunities at Shoichi. We currently collaborate with employment support facilities, and without their support, Shoichi's recycling business would not be viable. I strongly hope to continue increasing my client base in order to provide more job opportunities.
Shoichi is committed to creating a green future and providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
